Buying a Pram Newborn

Parents and caregivers can rely on pushchairs and prams to be multi-functional and versatile. They're the co-pilots in the new adventure of your child.

A pram newborn is designed for newborns and babies and has the most solid, sturdy carrycot that has soft and secure walls.

A pram is equipped with a bassinet, but it can also be converted into a stroller once the baby is ready.

Safety

Newborns should be protected to the greatest extent possible. A pram bags or stroller that has safety features will ensure that your baby is in a safe and comfortable environment during travel. The basic requirements for any pram or stroller include a functioning brake, a 5-point safety harness (2 shoulder straps, 2 waist straps, and the strap for the crotch) and an adjustable wrist tether strap for the person pushing the pram. Check that your chosen pram meets these standards before purchasing.

Look for a pram that allows your infant to ride in the recommended lying flat position. This position helps your baby and prevents the risk of a dangerous spinal curve which could lead to spinal issues. By keeping the airways open, it reduces the risk for SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Asphyxiation). Most prams that are used from birth will come with the seat unit, which will recline into a lie-flat pram position for younger babies and then transform into a pushchair unit for older children.

The suspension on prams is vital as it will affect the smoothness of the ride. A pram with a lot of spring suspension will cost more however, it's worth the extra expense in the event that you plan to use your pram each for a while or longer.

You should always take the time to read the instruction manual and check the warning labels for your stroller or pram. Also, ensure that your stroller is placed in a safe spot free of bicycles, traffic or any other dangers when it's not being used. Convenience

When buying a pram newborn it is important to consider your baby's needs for transport. Some prams include a bassinet, carrycot or a seat that can recline to an upright position.
