Repair Patches

If you've got a hole or two in your gear, think about adding adhesive patches to your rep kit. These patches are made of a high-performance adhesive pre-applied to a rugged polyurethane backing that allows a tear to heal under pressure. These patches are available in colors or clear versions and provide durability against punctures, as well as sunlight, water and extreme temperatures.

If your kit doesn't include any of the above items, you may want to consider adding a waterproof Aquaseal wader sealant. This water-tight glue can be applied to plastics, fabrics metals and other materials for an unbreakable fix. This glue is ideal for fixing drysuits and can also be utilized in the field. Allow the sealant to dry for up to 12 hours prior to applying the repaired gear.

The most essential field fabric repair kit for nylon tents with silicone impregnated packs, rainwear, and more. This kit includes one Clean Tape patch and a repair swatch of sil-nylon along with a 1/4-ounce tube of Goretex Sil-Fix repair adhesive and sealant, as well as a brush. To apply the patch, place it over a smooth, clean surface of the area that has been damaged with at least 1/2 inch overlap. Remove the release paper from the patch surface and rub adhesive using moderate finger pressure (adhesive side down).

If you're on the trail and do not have the time to make an entire vulcanising repair this adhesive patch will get you back in the saddle quickly and without waiting. Simply roughen the tube using the included scraper, then apply one of the self-adhesive patches to roll on.

Use the tube-scuffer for roughening the surface. This will help the glue stick. Spread a thin layer of glue over the patch that covers an area at least as large as the patch. Wait a few minutes for the glue to harden before pressing the patch into place and firmly securing it in the position.

This kit contains two adhesive-backed, clear Tenacious Tape fabric repair patches. It also comes with an ounce Seam Grip urethane sealant and repair adhesive. Ideal for strengthening damaged tents, sleeping bags as well as rainwear, packs and boots.
