AMBIEN usage late in the third trimester is likely to cause newborn respiratory depression. Patients should be advised to avoid drinking alcohol and having illicit or prescription medications and street drugs prior to or after AMBIEN treatment.

Dosage

AMBIEN is known to cause impaired psychomotor function in the days following. It is not recommended to be used with alcohol or any other drug that enhances the zolpidem metabolic rate. Falls have occurred in some older patients who take dosages ranging from 10 mg to zolpidem tartrate. Ambien may cause patients to slide down. They should be advised to get off of mattress after taking AMBIEN.

It is important to inform pregnant mothers that breastfeeding is not recommended as AMBIEN might get into breastmilk. Examine infants for signs of excessive sedation, hypotonia, somnolence, or respiratory depression.

AMBIEN may cause severe liver impairment in people with severe liver impairment. Coadministration of zolpidem with other drugs that can affect GABA receptors, like anticholinergics or benzodiazepines, increases the chance of the reaction (see DRUG INTERACTIONS]. AMBIEN may cause tolerance and dependence. Stop treatment as soon as feasible clinically.

The Side Effects

AMBIEN is most commonly linked to dizziness and drowsiness. The drug can cause nausea, headaches, and stomach pain. The effects of these side effects are typically moderate and will go away by themselves in a few days.

Take care when driving, or taking part in other activities which require you to be alert if you are taking AMBIEN. Particularly when it's taken in conjunction with less than a full night's sleep remaining (7 up to 8 hours) or in combination with alcohol or with other medicines that influence the CNS (e.g., different antidepressants, sedatives or other drugs). In studies of the effect of ambien usa's effect on the various stages of sleep, it has been proven to prolong the time spent at the most deep (stage 4) and REM sleep (paradoxical) states of sleep.

AMBIEN may cause psychomotor impairment on the day following if taken within 8 hours of nighttime, when combined together with alcohol, or any other medication which raise blood levels of Zolpidem. (See Warnings and Warnings). Inform patients that they should take AMBIEN only at bedtime and not during the all day.

It is advised to use AMBIEN only when needed for sleep, and to not make use of it more frequently than recommended. Tell patients to not drink alcohol or use other medications which cause them to sleep during the time they take AMBIEN. Inform patients to rest for at least 7-8 hours before driving, or performing other tasks in which they require full alertness having taken AMBIEN.

If you are breastfeeding your infant be sure to look out for signs of the presence of excessive levels of sedation (more than usual) breathing difficulties as well as limpness. See Use in Specific Populations]. Studies of older people (>70 years) AMBIEN Cmax and T 1/2 levels were significantly higher in comparison to younger adults.

Warnings

Unlicensed online pharmacies can sell fake medicines or products that contain hazardous substances. FDA is advising only to purchase prescribed medications from accredited online pharmacies. The FDA BeSafeRx site allows you to verify the status of your license of a particular pharmacy.

Instruct patients to follow the dosage instructions with care, and remind them that AMBIEN could induce sleepy behaviors like driving, walking or preparing meals, making calls or having sexual sex while completely awake. These can lead to serious injury or death. If you experience any of these symptoms, discontinue AMBIEN immediately and tell your patients to seek urgent medical treatment.

Patients suffering from hepatic impairment do not remove zolpidem tartrate in the same way as those with normal liver function. Moreover, taking AMBIEN along with other drugs that affect GABA receptors may increase the risk to develop CNS depression (see Drug Interactions). It is recommended that pregnant women report to their physician if they become pregnant during the treatment of AMBIEN.
