Buying used baby gear is risky even if it's been used for a short period of time. Secondhand products aren't required to be registered with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, unlike new items. There's no way of knowing if a product was recalled. It also defines requirements and testing procedures to minimize the risk posed by these products. CPSC staff worked closely with ASTM stakeholders in the development of this rule.
